ELK Studios was one of the first developers to adopt and implement a ‘mobile first’ philosophy for game development – something that is now pretty much standard. Early days also saw them experiment with expanding reels and multiplying free spins – a pretty bold stance from a relative newbie. The Swedish outfit continues to innovate and excite players with its conveyor belt of high quality slots.

It started fairly modestly for ELK Studios with a game called The Lab. But before long they hit their stride. Wild Toro was a landmark release for the Swedish company in 2016 and went on to be awarded Game of the Year in the EGR Operators Awards. In 2021 US-based Scientific Games acquired ELK Studios for an undisclosed amount – a notable vote of confidence about how the developer was regarded globally.
