Treasure hunts and hidden riches

If there’s one thing pirates like, it’s treasure. That’s one thing that pirates and slots players have in common. Pirate mythology revolves around buried gold and secret maps, which makes it a perfect fit for slot mechanics.

Treasure hunts appear in pirate slots in different ways. Sometimes it’s a literal map mechanic, where symbols gradually move a ship towards an island or hidden destination. Sometimes it’s a treasure chest bonus round, but maybe the most popular is the cash collect mechanic. If you’re more into the treasure map side of things then take a look at Pirates’ Plenty: The Sunken Treasure. As you play, fragments of a treasure map appear and move your ship along a route beside the reels. Reach the famous X marks the spot, and the slot unlocks an additional treasure reel.

Curses, legends and sea monsters

While pirates are definitely pretty keen to get their hands on the treasure, it’s not the only part of pirate folklore. The sea has always been surrounded by myths, and plenty of pirate slots lean heavily on those darker legends.

One of our favourites is Micropirates and the Kraken of the Caribbean. As you might expect, the kraken takes centre stage here, dropping you right into a battle where it’s attacking your ship.
