There is seemingly no end to the destinations where ELK will drag this creation, and Machu Picchu appears to be the latest pit stop. As with Cygnus 5, Everything relies heavily on wins taking place to clear the way for something a little more special, and that's exactly what we aim to do as we embark on this strange celestial journey.
Play starts with six reels presented in quite a strange formation. You select your wager amount and hit the spin button. Winning symbols can form payouts when they land across the adjacent reels, but don't worry if it doesn't seem that way because it's just how ELK disguises it.
Winning symbols disappear, and the rest will drop towards the bottom of the grid with the balls rolling left to right as gravity drags them downwards. More symbols join in from the top of the game area, and the results are fairly small, with basic gems fetching you up to 0.20x, and most of the higher payers struggle to return your base bet. The top symbol can, however, get you up to 5x for a group of six.
Your journey begins on the 1st star constellation, and this can change and move through various stages when special actions take place. Each constellation has an inactive, active and consumed form, and you activate them by landing a win. The symbol appears in front of the star gets consumed by the Starlight feature, which triggers when two or more stars within that constellation are active. At this point, symbols in the constellation get turned into matching symbols and wilds.
Heading back to the front of the grid, you'll see special symbols that can manipulate your payouts with charger symbols activating star constellations, multipliers increasing your wins and the max win symbol, which needs to reach the bottom left corner. If it does, you'll get that huge 50,000x win.
The first bonus game takes place on a 6x8 grid with three respins. If you land a special symbol, your three spins are renewed, but if you don't hit a special symbol for three spins, it's game over.
Symbols covering the star constellations become mystery symbols, which remain until the end of the game. At the end of your spins, your mystery symbols are revealed as one of the pay symbols.
The second bonus game is a free spins round with seven free plays, and the current multiplier goes with you into the bonus. You can pick up extra spins, and you can add extra rows.

These constellations can move from inactive to active, and then finally to consumed. They begin as inactive and will only activate after winning symbols appear in front of the constellation. When the bonus symbol makes its way to the left-hand corner at the bottom of the grid, you get 7 free spins, and the multiplier goes with you. Like the other Cygnus games, this one relies on a sequence of actions taking you to better parts of the adventure. The star constellations can improve things, with those mystery symbols, and the growing multiplier is also an essential part of the equation. 50,000x seems like light years away, but remember that this is a high volatility game and the max win symbol could eventually roll its way to the bottom left-hand corner.
An artistic mash of celestial and Mesoamerican influences have been blended together in a kind of Stargate fashion for this slot. It's exactly what I expected, given the history of this series! The downside to the Cygnus slots is that they can appear overly complicated, and that's because they probably are. It feels like there's a lot going on, but when you break it all down, it is quite a simple sequence of events. I'm not sure if that's a positive or negative comment, and maybe the developer has just done a fantastic job of making this creation look more like a Mensa test than a slot.
