Is anyone else starting to get a little tired of watching this raccoon and his antics? Hacksaw is in danger of losing me at this point with far too many creations coming out within seconds of each other. I know it's Christmas, but there is a limit! Either way, I promise to review this game without prejudice!
It's nice to see Smokey in a grid slot environment rather than just a few standard paylines as he can now grab wins all over the grid as long as there are combos that touch horizontally or vertically.
My first impression was that symbol wins we're going to be pretty small and you know what, I wasn't completely right! Royal symbols can only get you up to 1x but a group of five Christmas trees, candies and bells can return more than your base bet. 25x is the best combo payout.
When wins appear, the winning symbols will then disappear and behind them is where a gold square shows. If a rainbow symbol is on the grid at the same time, this activates the gold square and they reveal special symbols which could be coins, Santa sack, clovers or jackpot prizes.
The coins come in bronze, silver or gold versions with 500x being the best prize. Clover symbols can add multipliers worth up to 20x and Santa's sack collects the prizes. If a jackpot box is revealed or lands on the grid, there are four random jackpot values which will be unwrapped. These values range from 10x to 20,000x.
Three or more scatter symbols will trigger 10 free spins and the most basic version will provide you with the base game mechanics, plus gold squares that remain until they are activated by a rainbow symbol.
With four scatter symbols, the enhancements are slightly better with gold squares staying until the end, even if they get activated. Finally, the super version comes with five scatter symbols and each spin guarantees a rainbow symbol. As an extra perk, coin symbols can only ever be silver or gold.

It's actually a bit of a shame that this game belongs to the ‘Le’ series. In its own right, it has a lot to offer but it feels like it's been dragged down as part of an overused idea. I love the addition of the jackpot prizes and the gold square modifiers work brilliantly as well. You can't knock the design either, so I'm going to have to give this a very favourable score, even though I'd like to see the raccoon disappear for a while.
