There are many ways to win in this game, and if enough clovers, coins, and buckets of gold come your way, then you never know just how good the outcome might be.
The standard wins come by hitting a minimum of five matching symbols anywhere on the reels. The best you can hope for is 100x for 13 or more football symbols. As the wins take place, the winning symbols disappear, and a cascade takes place. This removes all the other symbols to make way for new ones, and you get another chance to pick up a prize.
After a winning cascade plays out, the position gets highlighted by a square outline, and if there's a rainbow symbol on the grid, it will activate it. The square will then reveal coins, buckets of gold, or four-leaf clovers. The coins are worth up to 500x, and the four-leaf clover symbols can multiply these figures by up to 10x. The bucket of gold acts as a collector.
Three scatter symbols produce eight free spins, and all marked squares remain highlighted until they are activated by a rainbow symbol. You can pick up extra spins while you play. Four scatter symbols do much the same, but you'll now see squares staying where they are, even after they're activated. It's a pretty standard Smokey affair, and all that's changed is the background. The raccoon is now wearing some kind of football fan get-up, and there's a suitable soundtrack in the background adding to the football feel. It's not a bad-looking game, but there aren't any clever added extras that will make you look twice. It's quite a large grid, but as always, Hacksaw has made sure that it sits nicely on a mobile phone screen.
I knew straight away that Le Football Fan wasn't going to teach me anything new about slots or Hacksaw Gaming. It's a very obvious way to squeeze this series a little further, and they've done it just in time for the World Cup. I say hats off to them, and I think every other developer would have done the same.
