The World Eaters idea seems to derive from a previous ELK outing known as Slurpy that came out back in September 2024. This game received fairly high praise when it first hit the market, thanks to its alternative mechanics and fun features. Let's hope that reviving this old idea sees improvements rather than simple replication.
When you first spin this slot, it won't be immediately obvious where the wins are coming from. The base game is a 5x5 grid, and your rewards appear in a cluster pays formation. Picking up wins is all possible thanks to the colourful characters at the top of the grid who grab their own matching symbols.
The gaps that appear as symbols are collected and will be refreshed with new symbols, and the character gets replaced. Individual symbols have fairly low values, but these can be improved greatly by the modifications.
At the beginning, you start with a 1x multiplier, but this gets better if your collector munches on an upgrade. Other improvements may also come your way with special symbols improving the win potential.
Coin symbols offer wins, which are displayed as multipliers of your bet amount. Wild multipliers will help you out by substituting for regular payers and improving the value of any wins that take place using that symbol.
The grey house will block your collection, and the whales will do the same, but they trigger if neither collector can pick up any snacks. It basically removes itself and gives you a chance to land a win.
Collecting whales, pipes, and other special symbols will move you to the next part of the world, with extra reels and rows becoming available.
Three scatter symbols give you three super drops, and you play these on an expanded grid that is 7x7. You won't see some of the feature symbols though. A UFO might land and trigger the ultra beast, which gets rid of the regular collectors and munches the entire grid. Outside the UK, players can buy their way directly into the bonus game for 100x.
Coins can land with a multiplier of your base bet displayed on them. They might get collected by the piggy bank, and when this happens, they have their values multiplied by the global multiplier. There's a chance they might blow up, and the bottom row could get filled with coins, and a whole lot of places are filled with matching symbols.
Three scatter symbols will get you three super drops, and these are basically free spins, but better. The grid expands to 7x7, and from time to time, a big alien might take the place of your regular collectors and eat all the symbols on the grid. They can pick up extra spins, and all of the other instant wins and basic modifications.
There are many ways to enhance your payouts, and a lot of the time, you won't really know when or why it's happening. For me, the most obvious benefit was the piggy bank that enjoyed picking up gold coins and manipulating the game area to improve my bankroll. There's a max win of 10,000x, and the volatility is set at medium.
This slot is likely to confuse the hell out of you in a visual sense. There's so much going on and moving from one world to the next doesn't really help explain anything. It's another experimental release for ELK, but they always do it in style and it looks great on a range of devices. The animations are fairly simplistic and have an almost retro feel to them, but I'm pretty sure that's exactly what the developer was going for.
