Pirots 3
Our Rating
Time to check your vital signs and dig out that grotty old face mask that you wore for far too long during COVID. This Shady Lady pandemic was definitely created in a lab and we've got all the evidence we need to prove it. In Oops, you'll experience some uncomfortable moments in the form of flu-like symptoms and there are free spins with some abnormalities to add to the dark entertainment! You make your way through these levels and hopefully end up with 20,000x, so you can buy plenty of tissues and perhaps some PPE that works.
Full review continued below ↓One of the things you're going to learn to love about Shady Lady is that they don't care what anyone thinks, and they're probably not that interested in your opinion either – just kidding! That might make them sound a little arrogant but when you've got a class team of slot creators squirrelling away behind the scenes, you can afford to be overly confident. This creation represents a virus that's got out of control with some hilarious and hopefully valuable consequences.
The game area is pretty large with six reels, four rows and a chance to land wins in over 4000 ways. You simply need matching symbols to land on adjacent reels without a break to pick up a prize.
The low-paying foot protectors can only pay up to a 0.50x but the highest payers will reward you with 3x for a group of six. These aren't huge rewards though and you'll need a little help from the flu-like features to get things boosted a little higher.
It can only happen during the base game but at any point, mystery reveal symbols could come to your rescue. One of three features can turn up with a random number of columns filled with the symbols, a random number of positions revealing them, or potentially, a cluster of them landing in the form of some congestion-based goo. They reveal the same matching symbol.
For 75x, 190x or 292x, you can buy highlight reels and these give you a large group of spins where you get the best three from the bunch. The loot boxes cost 188x, 347x or 574x – they award bonuses. 1.5x will boost your chances of landing a free spins bonus, 5x will make it even more likely and 89x will take you straight to the bonus game.
If you don't use the loot boxes or direct purchase options, you'll need three or more lab rat scatter symbols to trigger your free spins. Virus symbols appear and spread around the screen and these will add to the meter at the top of the game area.
You need to make your way through the five levels and you do this by completing the meter with three of the virus symbols. Each time you progress, you get three extra spins.
In general, the bonus game does feel fairly similar but those added virus symbols and extra free spins will hopefully give you plenty of time to see lots of matching symbols revealed and big wins come your way.
In the base game, you can see mystery reveal symbols that come in three formats. They are known as fever, cough and congestion. The first gives you columns of mystery reveal symbols and the second is the random number of them on the screen. The final one is a cluster. They all reveal matching symbols and hopefully create a win.
When you start the free spins bonus, you notice that there are some extra graphics and this is because the mechanics are slightly different. Instead of the mystery reveal symbols landing in the flu-like features, you now have virus symbols that spread mystery symbols and also add to a meter. Each time you complete a level, you get three more spins.
Base game wins don't look too clever with those regular symbol values but you might be lucky enough to see the flu-like features increasing those figures. I’d only been playing for a couple of minutes before I saw one take effect and hit me with a 48x win.
The base game is nothing compared to the bonus round though, in my opinion. You want to see as many virus symbols as possible and not just because you want extra free spins. As these mystery symbols start spreading like a nasty cough, you might witness some astonishing clusters. It happened to me and I walked away with over 1,000x.
Shady Lady has no intention of playing it safe and they're not too fussed if they offend anyone with their creations. As expected, they’ve gone over the top with this laboratory setting and even the scientists are mutating out of control. Base game symbols are curiously crafted and blend perfectly with the theme. The animations help the features come to life and the weird soundtrack somehow works, but I don't know why!
My time with Oops provided a couple of highlights in the form of fun animations and big win potential. It goes to show that you don't need huge jackpots and terribly fancy features to put together a decent payout along the way. 20,000x is this developer’s standard max win and I think they intend to deliver on that promise with every title.
