Standard wins are worth up to 5x and these can land across 14 paylines, and wild symbols will substitute for regular payers. When a Nitro symbol lands, it triggers what is known as burnout mode and this starts a nudging phenomenon.
The Nitro symbol gives you five nudges and other wilds and multipliers may also be added to the reels – you might get up to 10 nudges at the same time if more Nitro symbols land. Multipliers are worth up to 5x, and wild symbols can't be added to the same place as another one.
With three scatter symbols, you will play for free, and you’ll see the base game mechanics continue. The only real difference here is that you get an increased chance of landing the Nitro symbols.
Four scatter symbols will deploy eight free spins, and in addition to the above, the chance of landing epic Nitro symbols, which activate a special burnout mode. You’ll now get a global multiplier that increases by one after every nudge.

These symbol values aren't particularly impressive, but the Nitro symbols can turn them into something quite spectacular. My base game spins were quite reluctant to provide me with any Nitro for quite some time though. When it did happen, my balance was a little happier, but it was nowhere near where it started. The volatility is pretty high, so I wasn't expecting a regular round of mediocre wins. Unfortunately, I never got to see the one-off big hit, despite the fact that I made it into the bonus round.
There is something quite unmistakable about the graphics in Nitro Nights. It screams Hacksaw Gaming, and it's unlikely to be confused with any other. It feels like many other games from the same developer, and that's not such a bad thing, given that they have a great track record. They do a top job of keeping your eyes away from the background details and firmly focused on the reels with various engine parts landing to grab you the wins. It's a similar story on mobile devices, and you'll be able to enjoy the colourful splashes that keep everything standing out from the blurred background.
Nitro Nights feels like a fairly standard effort from this developer, but it has just enough going for it to help it stand out. I find myself saying that quite a lot about Hacksaw Gaming recently. They don't exactly push the boundaries, but they are keeping reviewers like me interested. Obviously, my interest is firmly focused on those Nitro symbols, and it's nice to see some nudges coming back into the slot world once again.
