There are six reels and four rows with matching symbols landing on adjacent reels to create payouts. The lowest payers get you up to 0.5x and the highest payers deliver up to 4x. These aren't huge wins, but that doesn't matter when you've got a progressive multiplier helping you out the whole way through.
Each time a win takes place, you see the winning symbols disappear and new ones join the game. At the same time, the global multiplier will increase by +1. The next win that turns up is multiplied by that figure until there are no more payouts. Multipliers will then reset for the next sequence.
Expanding wilds are one of the improvements and they’re better than the standard wild symbol, because rather than one single symbol, they grow to cover the reel. Unfortunately, this can't happen on the first reel. The infection modifier takes any low symbol from a selected panel and potentially replaces it with a high one.
If you want to play for free, you need between three and six scatter symbols to land. This will generate up to 13 free spins and you get to see the modifiers again. It's perfectly well put together with bright colours and a fun theme tune. The animations are crisp and it's clear that a lot of thought and effort went into this. Mobile phones don't struggle with the regular grid action, and I didn't experience any lag either on my smaller screen.
Cyber Runner from Peter and Sons is refreshingly different but not necessarily better than their previous creations. I like it when they keep things weird and quirky, and this felt a little bit too mainstream for my liking. That said, it still offers some potent features and you could hit a big payout from time to time.
