On the surface it seems that, with Rick and Morty Wubba Lubba Dub Dub, Blueprint created a more approachable game. The variance is balanced and the game uses a conventional five-reel, twenty-payline format. 

However, it dialed things up in terms of win potential. Not only does Rick and Morty Wubba Lubba Dub Dub boast the same hefty 50,000x max win, but it also adds the Jackpot King progressive network jackpot. There are also 15 different bonus features and modifiers, leaving many other games in the dust in terms of sheer content and replay value.

With Rick and Morty Wubba Lubba Dub Dub, Blueprint demonstrated that they weren’t interested in churning out re-skinned versions of hits. This emphasis on quality over quantity is what’s made the Rick and Morty games such a massive success. 

However, it also meant that we had to wait four years for the next instalment…

Rick and Morty Strike Back

In July 2024, Blueprint released Rick and Morty Strike Back, and in some respects it’s probably the most Rick-and-Morty-ish of the games so far. 

Despite not using the Megaways mechanic, Rick and Morty Strike Back does have 4,096 paylines and some very kinetic gameplay. 

Some fans of the previous two games will mourn the high RTP, which has dropped to 95% for this title, and the huge max wins, which have dropped to 10,000x. However, the inclusion of Blueprint’s Rapid Fire Jackpot system definitely adds value. 

Rapid Fire Jackpot debuted alongside Rick and Morty Strike Back, and it seems slightly as though the game was created to promote this new jackpot system, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The Rapid Fire Jackpots provide smaller, more frequent network jackpot prizes than their bigger Jackpot King cousin.

Spinoffs done right

In the case of many spinoffs, the developer is simply cashing in on the recognisability of the IP, but that’s not the case here. 

Whether you’re a fan of the TV show or not, the Rick and Morty games have got to be respected. They’re packed with nods to the source material, but not confined by it, and this is probably thanks to the zany, anything-goes nature of it.
