You might want to take a seat when I tell you that this game doesn't feature a respins bonus or free spins. Instead, the developer has gone for a more innovative method of landing your big wins and I've got to say I'm rather excited to see how it all works out. These multipliers are collected to the side of the reels and they come into play when Big Buildup triggers. Randomly on any spin, all of the collected multipliers are placed on the reels and wins that can make use of them will do so and you pick up a prize.
The Tower of Ra bonus game is unlike most. You won't be respinning or free spinning during this feature but you will still have a chance to pick up some attractive rewards along the way. You start with a number of active reels, and this corresponds to the number of scatter symbols that start the game. A minimum of three are necessary but you could have up to five.
With each spin, you have a chance of landing increase symbols and advanced symbols which will both help move you up the ladder and take you to bigger and better prizes. The skull symbols will wipe out one of the reels and once all reels are killed off by the skull symbol, it's game over. You pick up any rewards that you've climbed over along your way towards the top of the prize ladder.
Big Buildup symbols add a multiplier to your collection and wait there patiently until eventually, one triggers the feature. You could have multipliers worth up to 10x placed on the reels and these will multiply the value of the win lines. Any wins that land take on the multiplier value before returning you to the base game.
This bonus features the Mega Climb and you trigger it by landing three or more scatter symbols. You can have up to five active reels, but this is determined by the number of scatter symbols that land. Special symbols will potentially land prize increases, tower advances, skulls or blank symbols and apart from the skulls and blanks, they'll all help improve your wins. Climb the tower and avoid the skulls!
The tiny base game symbol wins might put the fear of an Egyptian god in you when you first lay eyes on them. However, you need to bear in mind that these are constantly modified by the wild multipliers and occasionally by the release of the feature. The graphics are crisp and effective and the soundtrack is a little understated, which is nice for a game of this genre. Mobile phones are also an option but you might struggle to appreciate all the detail on a smaller screen.
It is always nice to see a slot developer moving beyond the standard format of most slots and going for something a little different.
