Landing a win requires a cluster of five matching symbols. touching horizontally or vertically. The lowest payers can fetch you up to 5x and the mid-range symbols will pay up to 80x. The three animal characters can pay a maximum of 250x when you see a cluster of 30 or more winning symbols.
The symbols are removed after a win is formed and they begin to build up your progression meter. There are four levels and each time you hit 25 winning symbols, you move up a level.
With each new stage comes a new modifier and if a meter charger symbol lands, it can add extra points and get you there quicker.
After triggering the first level, you'll see between 5 and 10 mystery symbols added to the grid and these will reveal themselves to hopefully produce a win. Level 2 is where the Power Wilds come in and up to 10 random wild symbols might appear.
Level three is the Power Colossal Feature and you now see large symbols that could grow up to 4x4 in size. The fourth and final level is where the Power Nudge joins the game and respins are granted as long as the Colossal Nudging Mystery Symbol is present.
Multiplier and expander symbols can land during the power nudge. You might pick up some instant cash prizes if you reach the mystery symbol stage and these can repay you up to 1,000x.
Landing regular wins will increase the progression meter. There are four levels to the meter and each one will offer you different modifiers. Without charging any levels, you can see wilds added to the grid and once you've hit 25 winning symbols, you can land mystery symbols. The next level up will get you more wild symbols and the third level can produce colossal symbols. Finally, you can witness a power nudge.
Instant prizes are revealed by the Colossal Nudging Mystery Symbols during the Power Nudge feature. Their values range from 10x to 1000x. Landing larger mystery symbols will get you better payouts by removing some of the lower multiplier values. When these combine, you should see your payouts starting to increase and push your balance in the right direction.
Regular wins can feel a little tedious if they don't form a long line of decent results. You need at least 25 winning symbols to take part in productive clusters throughout the game to get things started and to see the best payouts, you need 100 of them to befriend your winning sequences.
It is quite a tall order and despite the medium volatility, I found that the lower groups of clusters were far more frequent. Bigger wins can turn up occasionally but it all works against the official rating and makes it feel more highly volatile. The lack of a bonus game is a little underwhelming as I was convinced that players might be able to see a progressive set of features that didn't reset, but it wasn't to be. The 6,500x max win does seem to fit with how the game plays.
I liked the overall design and it reminded me a little of a cutesy ThunderCats spinoff. You have a futuristic city skyline and unlike many other games, this doesn't seem to take place in some sort of destructive, dystopian dream that many of us fear. The soundtrack is carefully designed to make you feel like you're going into battle and the sound effects continue the gallant motivation and add to the overall feel.
There's no way you can play this game without wanting these animal characters to succeed in their mission, whatever that may be. Mobile phones can deal with this slot just fine but you may not be able to appreciate all of the smaller details that Push Gaming has come up with.
The lack of a bonus game may be a good thing, depending on how you look at it. It makes you focus on the features that are available and stops you from fixating on anything that may or may not arrive. There's a bit of a Play'n GO feel to the progressive meter, but personally, I'm not a huge fan as it makes it quite difficult to see some of the modifiers that other games will simply throw at you from time to time. Still, it stands out from the crowd and it's definitely worth a try.
