Last Man Standing Review

They ask if you're ready to survive, thrive and claim victory. That sounds like a good enough reason to saddle up and take a spin on this Wild West-themed challenge. Along with regular features, you can also watch out for Slotmill’s signature moments with Burst Mode and Fast Track among the options.

Gameplay & Features

To get started, you'll need to choose a suitable bet total, and this can range from 0.20 up to 60. After that, you’ll see that the reels spin in a fairly regular manner, apart from those at the top, because the top reel moves from left to right.

The regular paying symbols provide wins worth up to 4x, and the wild symbols will substitute for regular payers. At the top, you'll find that split symbols can land, and they divide individual symbols into many more.

There are expanding symbols, which are special versions of the paying symbols, and these may also land at the top. If they form part of a win, they expand to fill the reel. With all of this expanding and splitting taking place, you could end up with over 16,000 ways to win.

Bonus Games

There's a mini bonus feature and a regular one, but let's tackle the mini one first. When quick draw symbols land on the 1st and last reels, you trigger this feature, and a number of coins will offer you an instant prize. Nice and simple!

The main bonus game is the free spins duel. You need bonus symbols to land to grab you eight free spins and between three and five lives. Before your free spins take place, the duel demands centre stage, and the gun cylinder spins to show you if you get a hit or a miss.

A hit will result in the loss of a life, and an empty chamber means that the sheriff loses a life. Characters die off when they reach zero lives. For each outlaw that gets killed, the pay symbol on the slider gets upgraded during the free spins bonus.

You'll start the bonus round once the outlaws are all defeated or the sheriff gets killed. You can pick up upgrade symbols to improve your regular values, and a super split symbol might arrive to split symbols into yet more individual pay symbols.

The extra bet will cost double your regular bet amount, but it makes each spin 3.4 times more likely to trigger the bonus. You can enter the bonus game directly for 100x.

Quick Draw

Landing a quick draw symbol on the first and last reels awards this feature. You get a number of random locations featured as coin prizes, and the sum of all of those coins is added together to give you an instant cash win.

Free Spins

Watch a duel take place before you head to the free spins game and you'll see the sheriff take on some outlaws. Each have their own number of lives and each time they are hit, a life disappears. Once all the outlaws are killed, or the sheriff cops it, you move into the free spins bonus where you can find powerful splitting symbols and upgrades thanks to the shootout.

Win Potential

The base game can deliver fairly modest wins when you pick up a group of five picture symbols, but once the top row starts adding some expanding symbols, those payouts can get even better. It's great that the Quick Draw bonus can appear at any point and here, you could pick up a huge cash win. The free spins bonus benefits from the symbol upgrade, and I managed to land a win of 36x. You may have to play for quite some time to land that 10,000x max win, but it seems possible.

Design

Last Man Standing delivers a fairly run-of-the-mill Wild West town with quite a predictable soundtrack to boot. It hasn't taken any one element to try and stretch it out of the ordinary, but it does a fairly solid job all the same. It looks good on mobile phones and all other devices that are compatible with HTML5 tech.

Our Verdict

Your balance aims to be the Last Man Standing, and from my experience, the modifiers arrive to help it out just in the nick of time. I didn't see any massive wins, but that's not to say that they won't appear when the high volatility is ready to show a little love. You could do a lot worse than this game if you're interested in Wild West-themed slots – some sharp-shooting could deliver the goods.
