Jaws of Fortune feels like it's going to be a Big Bass rip off but it takes a very different turn and goes its own way. I'm glad it does and I like that it introduces walking wilds, but they’ll need to turn up frequently to have an impact.
The base game allows you to pick up wins in 1,024 ways. This means that you simply need matching coins to land on adjacent reels, but remember that this sequence must start on the left-hand reel.
A group of five royal symbols delivers a payout worth 0.40x but there are five picture symbols which will return a win that is larger than your bet. The best you can hope for is a group of five surfboards that send 10x to your balance.
Wild symbols can substitute for regular payers and they're also subject to a little special action during a mini feature.
Shark symbols land on the central three reels and produce a respin – hopefully it will bring a jet ski symbol onto the grid and trigger the shark attack feature. Jet ski symbols will do the same when they land on their own during a base game spin.
Sharks and jet skis now in place means that you are off to watch roaming wilds make their way towards the jet skis on the grid. As the sharks move, they leave behind a trail of wild symbols and once they reach the jet ski, they'll have themselves a nice meal and produce more wilds. If the sharks pass over an existing wild symbol, then you're multiplier goes from x1 to x2 and finally, to x4.

Despite the fact that roaming wilds can add a lot of value to your spins, you still get some pretty decent payouts from standard combinations. All of the picture symbols are worth landing and if you can get a group of five, then you'll see your balance heading in the right trajectory. Picking up multipliers and increasing coin values during the bonus game will certainly help improve things and if you can land enough sharks and jet skis at this point, then you could be making some waves and watching your balance grow towards 5,000x.
The graphics department did a fairly decent job of creating an underwater game area but it feels like the mini feature animations were a swing and a miss. There's nothing particularly incredible about the setup but I don't think anyone's going to complain about it either. Smaller mobile screens will deliver everything you need if you prefer to play that way.
It's strange to see a game that doesn't offer free spins these days but instead, we've got respins to help build up the big wins.
