Emberfall Review

There's a decent amount of action going on in this game, but some of you might want to see faster results! That's where Burst Mode comes in to enhance the autoplay by completing two game rounds per second. That sounds a little impatient to me, but each to their own!

Gameplay & Features

Load this game up on your HTML-compatible device, and you'll be faced with a 6x6 grid that offers wins in a scatter pays formation. You need eight matching symbols to land a win, and the good news is that they can drop anywhere on the grid and don't need to touch. The max payout is worth 10x for a group of 16 or more of the highest paying symbol.

As wins take place, winning symbols disappear, and new symbols join in. You'll also see a progressive multiplier that doubles with each win. This resets once you hit a losing spin and has a maximum 65,536x potential. The multiplier can be boosted by the boost feature, unsurprisingly, and this will move you along a random number of steps.

Once again, this developer brings us giant symbols, and these can help pick up instant wins and improve existing ones. Up to 16 matching symbols could hit at the same time.

Bonus Game

The free spins bonus is an 8 free spins bonanza, regardless of whether you're playing the regular or super versions. The standard game requires three standard scatter symbols, no surprises there.

The win multiplier will not reset during this round and can keep growing each time you hit a winning spin. During the super version, a giant symbol is guaranteed to appear with each spin, and the global multiplier continues to progress.

You can get a little extra action by paying 40x, and this will give you a multiplier boost, whereas 5x will increase your chances of hitting the bonus game. 100x takes you straight to the standard game, and 500x is the price for a super bonus.

Emberfall - Multiplier Boost

Multiplier Boost

Each time you hit a win, the global multiplier will double, but it could get even better if you see the multiplier boost. This feature could activate at the start of any spin, and when it does, it will move your progressive multiplier along a random number of steps. You could see big wins get even bigger thanks to this modifier.

Emberfall - Free Spins

Free Spins

Three or more regular bonus symbols will take you off to play eight free spins. At this point, you'll see the multiplier increase and grow without resetting. That means you can hit a losing spin and it doesn't matter! The super version gives you all of this, and you're guaranteed to see a giant symbol with each spin.

Win Potential

As is usually the case with this developer, giant symbols and increasing win multipliers are going to prove integral if you have any dreams of hitting huge wins. There is a maximum payout of 15,000x, and with a multiplier that can grow to over 65,000x, you might be feeling quite hopeful. Hold on though, because this is an incredibly volatile game, and that means some people will see a long run of dead spins before anything good happens.

Design

Slotmill always creates a nice-looking game, and with a name like Emberfall, you had to expect a volcano, didn't you? The lava action disappears into the night sky with the moon shining bright and the glowing streaks of embers making their way back towards the game area. The grid has a nice fiery tinge to it, and everything feels like it's been forged in flames. The soundtrack is quite dramatic and feels like there's an air of electricity about it in addition to the molten lava theme.

Our Verdict

I had a lot of fun tackling Emberfall, and I enjoyed watching the action take place. When the giant symbols and multipliers get moving, it is a sight to behold, and my balance certainly enjoyed the entertainment. I was intrigued to give the Burst Mode a spin to see what the results were like, and I went for 50 rounds. It took just a few seconds to play through the 50 spins, and the final result was a 32x payout. It didn't feel like a bad streak, but losing all of the imagery was a bit disappointing.
