There is a little assistance to potentially make several large groups of winning combos land at the same time and this comes from the Megaways mechanic. Each of the reels can display up to seven symbols and if each one produces the maximum number, you would have 117,649 ways to hit a payout.
As a winning combo forms, the winning symbols disappear and the remaining symbols fall to the bottom of the game area. Empty places are filled with new symbols and this could develop into another winning combo. The tumble system continues until no more wins land and the process starts again.
The free spins bonus lets you play for free between 10 and 20 times. You'll need 4, 5 or 6 scatter symbols to land during the base game to trigger this feature. If a win drops onto the grid, you'll see winning symbols disappear and that number of symbols then makes up a win multiplier.
During the standard free spins bonus, this multiplier is only applied to that win and not the next set of winning tumbles. For players outside the UK, it's possible to buy directly into the free spins bonus for 100x.
Watch out for the special persistent multiplier free spins which comes at the cost of 500x. With this game, the winning multipliers that build up thanks to the removed winning symbols will continue to grow and could produce some special rewards by the end of the feature.
There's also a possibility to increase the chances of landing the free spins bonus. Each spin will be five times more likely to trigger the feature but it will cost 2x your standard bet.
Landing four or more scatter symbols will trigger the free spins bonus and you'll get up to 20 plays. As you spin for free, every win is multiplied by a booster that's equal to the number of winning symbols that are removed from the current winning sequence. You can't retrigger the free spins bonus, unfortunately.
Outside the UK, there are two opportunities to buy directly into the free spins bonus and one of them is extra special. For 500x, players can access up to 20 spins and once again, they'll see a multiplier figure equal to the number of symbols that are removed from the current winning sequence. In addition, this multiplier figure continues to build in the meter to the side of the game area and won't reset until the end of the bonus round.
The win potential is enhanced by the Megaways mechanic and multiplier that appears during the bonus game. Undoubtedly, the super free spins version will offer the best returns but this is only available for those who can and are willing to pay 500x. That makes the rest of the creation feel a little sad as you know that there's something special that may not be obtainable to all. I picked up wins worth over 10x during the base game but due to the high volatility, I also saw a lot of dead spins.
Pragmatic Play has done quite well with the creation of this game and they've captured the excitement and drama that goes along with any zombie movie perfectly with the soundtrack. A few blood spatters here and there add to the grim reality of the scene but they may be a little too subtle to make out on smaller mobile devices.
The super free spins buy in is a nice idea for players outside the UK but perhaps it would be worth removing this option for the rest of us so we can't see what we're missing out on! A persistent multiplier should create the biggest wins and it's disappointing to know that we aren't going to get there. Otherwise, the Megaways mechanic and base game tumbles do a fairly decent job of captivating your attention and the design isn't bad either.
