Light & Wonder continues to back their Cash Falls idea with yet another addition to the series with Ultimate Fire Link Cash Falls By The Bay. There are valuable fireballs providing multipliers and jackpots, plus a chance to play for free. This game offers a different approach to features compared to many others and it might be right up your alley!

Cash Falls games are played on five reels with a different number of rows on each. The first two only have four rows, but the final one has eight. Regular wins occur when three or more matching symbols land on adjacent reels, starting from the left-hand side.
The lowest payers are the royals and these will only get you up to 0.30x. The highest payers get you up to 1.50x. Bigger payouts can be achieved with a little help from some wild symbols as these substitute for other regular symbols.
Beyond these wins, your eyes are drawn towards the fireballs and these can land on any reel. As a fireball hits, it stays for three spins until it disappears. If you land another fireball on the same reel, then the three spins are reset.
Fireballs will produce multipliers worth up to 50x or one of the jackpot prizes. The size of the jackpots and multipliers available will depend on which reel you fill. If one of the triggering fireball symbols is a fire link symbol, then this variant kicks into gear.
The fireball symbols that trigger the feature are placed on rows one to four and stick in place with three spins awarded. Additional fireballs are also held, and if a fireball lands on an active row, the three spins get renewed.
Eight rows are available but only rows one to four are active at the start and this can be improved as you collect more symbols. You could eventually have over twenty held symbols on eight rows.
The prizes shown on the fireballs can once again offer you prizes worth up to 50x or one of the jackpots and these are all awarded for any fireball symbols that are shown on an active row.
Free spins are yours when you land between 3 and 5 scatter symbols and you'll also pick up a 1x payout. Up to 15 spins are available and any fireballs that land during the round are held. If you completely fill a reel, then you get to spin the wheel shown above the reel and you'll pick up an instant multiplier worth up to 5x, or you might trigger the Fire Link feature.
Multipliers are worth up to 50x or you may grab one of the jackpot prizes. If you play the Firelink Feature during the free spins game, then the reel gets locked and the result of the feature is shown for the remainder. After the free spins finish, the total multiplier or jackpot that's shown on each fireball is awarded.
Fireball symbols offer cash multipliers and jackpots. The value of these fireballs will increase, depending on the reel upon which they are displayed. Fireballs are held for three spins and if another fireball lands on the same reel, the three spins are reset. If you completely fill the reel, then the prizes are awarded.
If one of the fireballs displays a Fire Link logo, then that reel will trigger this feature. You get three spins and the fireballs are placed on rows one to four and held for the feature. Additional fireballs are held and reset the number of spins. Rows one to four are active at the start and this can grow to eight rows with over twenty symbols potentially held.
Between three and five scatter symbols get you up to fifteen free spins and fireball symbols continue to stick in place. If every position on a reel gets filled with fireballs, then you spin the wheel and a prize worth up to 5x is offered, or the Fire Link feature. You can still pick up jackpots as you play.
One of the main benefits of this game is that all parts are interlinked and the potential builds as you go. Regular base game wins aren't going to offer much in terms of excitement or financial reward and feel very secondary to the plot.
Landing the fireball symbols is where the biggest boosts occur for your balance but how often you get a complete reel will depend on how lucky you are on the day! Triggering the Fire Link also provides a welcome nudge in the right direction for your bankroll and it adds to the potential with each spin as the number of fireball symbols grows.
I experienced a fairly long run of mundane spins but then the Cash Falls started to kick into gear and reel 2 was especially receptive! Jackpot prizes also fell into place from time to time. There's a chance of hitting a 10,000x max win and luckily, there is a Mega jackpot that provides just that.
Cash Falls never offers much in the way of sound effects or backing music and along with the visual display, everything feels like it was intended for a casino floor cabinet. It works ok on smaller screens but you don't get the added excitement that online slots that were intentionally created for your phone or laptop offer you. In this version, you have the Golden Gate Bridge stretching out across the bay and most of the symbols take on a fairly fishy representation.
Every so often, I give the Cash Falls slots another chance and take them for a spin but once again, I'm walking away from this one feeling a little underwhelmed. It feels extremely volatile and that's understandable but the entertainment that it offers during the quiet spins is a little lacklustre. That said, there's a 10,000x max win and grabbing just one of those Mega jackpots will see you reach that goal instantly.
