The original True Grit Redemption game received a decent score of 4.19/5 from our reviewers back in 2021. Can the sequel do better? At first glance, it seems like there's enough here to push it even further than the original game could, but there might be a little too much squeezed into one game. Let's hit the spin button and find out.
You'll notice that this game takes place on a six-reel game area with locked positions at the top. Wins are formed when at least three matching symbols fall on adjacent reels and the best payouts are worth up to 1x.
The locked row above the reels is where special symbols can appear, and these include xSplit, xWays, rats, and various other symbols. They can activate due to winning symbols disappearing and the grid repopulating. New symbols landing on the grid also have the benefit of pushing the global multiplier higher.
An exploding xBomb can remove adjacent symbols and locked boxes, while the Rat and Rat King bring big multipliers. Other symbols can be split, and wilds also make an appearance.
Watch out for redemption girl as she is a wild symbol that takes on the values of all other multipliers, and The Hunter will add 50x to itself and other symbols.
The free spins bonus can turn up in three guises and the first requires three bonus symbols. You get seven spins and the global multiplier is persistent. Four bonus symbols will get you 10 free spins and locked boxes on the 5th and 6th reels are opened.
Finally, five bonus symbols will trigger 12 free spins and the additional benefit here is that all locked boxes are opened. Outside the UK, direct entry to the free spins bonus comes with the minimum payment of 66x for the basic version.
One of the most potent additions to these reels is the Hunter, and this symbol can only appear in the enhancer row or locked boxes. It adds a multiplier of 50x to its own place and other symbols as well. The final act is to add this huge multiplier to the global multiplier and push your wins even higher.

Being in the right time and place is always important when you want to experience the highest win potential, but even during quiet times, True Grit Redemption 2 has the ability to fire off some huge payouts. The game benefits from a multitude of modifiers, and these managed to get my balance moving quite high at certain points. The design has become far more polished since the original, and the animations feel smoother. You've got quite a large grid to work with, but it didn't seem to affect my experience on a mobile phone, and the slightly dark, Wild West theme tune adds an air of tension to your spins.
Mathematically speaking, True Grit Redemption 2 is a work of art, and it's amazing to see so many elements work together in harmony. The physical design is also pretty incredible, and the win potential is certainly there bubbling away under the surface.
