It's got so much going for it on paper, and if the gameplay lives up to expectations, this is going to pick up quite a special score.
These six reels are split into two areas, with the regular game taking place below the surface of the water. Above, you'll notice some cool reel features. These can drop down onto the grid when wins take place below. Regular wins are awarded by matching groups of fruit, and these can deliver payouts worth up to 2x.
The way to boost your wins is to watch feature symbols drop down from the cool reel above, and this happens as winning symbols are removed. You can see mystery symbols, golden symbols and even row swaps delivered at this point.
Wild symbols can land and lock in place, and pearls can help Elmo work his magic. Elmo and the other characters have their own features, which come in the form of eggs that turn into flamingos, and those produce wild symbols! You can also have various rows blasted from the game area, and new symbols join the game. Mystery symbols will help out from time to time.
The bonus turns up as a free spins feature, and to trigger this, you need at least three bonus symbols. A maximum of six will get you 15 free spins. The cool reel contains extra drop symbols, which add to your tally of free spins. Also, the global multiplier can grow, and you can make all of this happen by paying 100x outside the UK. There are a ton of features that can land during the base game and bonus game, and they are divided between the cool reel and character features. The cool reel can drop mystery symbols, swap rows, add wilds and more. The characters can arrive at any time, bringing wild eggs, destroying symbols, and there's also a mystery crocodile!
Between 3 and 6 scatter symbols will trigger up to 15 free spins, and the cool reel can add extra symbols while you play. Thanks to the medium/high volatility, big wins land on this game area at any moment. I saw some huge base game payouts, and as expected, the bonus game made things even more inviting. 25,000x is a big max win, and I'm fairly sure that someone will reach it at some point. There's no one particular moment that produces the best returns in this game; you just have to take a spin and watch it all come together.
Despite the Caribbean-esque setting in Tropicool 5, things are still chilly with symbols set in blocks of ice. Elmo floats above the surface on a hoverboard, and other characters turn up when they feel like it. It's bright and colourful, and it looks fantastic on mobile phones as well. The chilled vibe offered by the soundtrack also helps calm your nerves as you spin for big prizes.
There's so much going on here that it's hard to take it all in! The last Tropicool 4 game got a fantastic score, and while it is fairly similar to the previous instalment, the setting is slightly different. I'm not sure it has improved since February of last year, but it certainly hasn't slipped in any way. I think the last two are my favourites, and now it's time for you to see what you think.
