You've got to be brave to throw your hook out into these waters! The problem is that there's a Megadon Triple Threat out there, and he looks hungry! Watch these enormous fish upgrade your regular pay symbols and add wilds that occasionally come with multipliers. Three types of free spins modifications are on the cards, and if you get a decent bite, you could reel in a 25,000x max win.

Megadon Triple Threat Review

It certainly doesn't look like the sort of place you'd want to spend a peaceful afternoon with a few cans of beer and a tub of worms. These fish seem more interested in munching on each other than ending up on your line. Your job is to entice them towards you and send multipliers into your landing net along with big wins.

Gameplay & Features

You have five reels and four rows, and you'll see plenty of animations taking place while you spin. The small fish will struggle to return your base bet, so you want to hope that these don't turn up too often. The money is there to be made thanks to the megadon and hammerhead, and there's a little help from the leopard shark as well.

Wild symbols are the electric eels, and these won't appear on the first reel. They can land during both the base game and free spins, and they will substitute for regular payers. At the top of the game area, you'll see that there are three meters and these collect the scatter symbols with a corresponding colour. At any point, the hammerhead, megadon or leopard sharks could trigger their features, which are multiplier, upgrade and wilds, respectively.

Bonus Games

Each of the bonus games offers 8 free spins, and the first up is the least valuable, at least in terms of modifiers. This one will add random wilds to the game, and everything else is pretty much the same. There's no retrigger in this bonus, but you can see the leopard shark eating small fish to upgrade them.

The Hammerhead feast gives you x2 wilds, and once again, there is no retrigger. Your hammerhead will eat the wild symbols and upgrade them to x2 wilds though.

Finally, there is the megadon feast, and this eight free spins frenzy offers a retrigger, and you'll see this enormous shark eating small fish to upgrade them to a megadon symbol. Three blue scatters will get you three extra spins and activate additional fish symbols, with a maximum of 30 free spins available.

Outside the UK, I'm certain that players will be able to buy their way directly into the free spins game, but there's no news just yet on the price.

Hangry Meters

These meters sit patiently at the top of the game area and are represented by the three hungry sharks. Each time a coloured scatter symbol lands, it is collected by its corresponding meter and has a chance to trigger the free spins bonuses.

Free Spins

The bonus game can ignite when the green, blue or orange scatter symbols are collected in the meters. The green version will bring you the hammerhead multipliers with x2 wilds available and symbol upgrades. The leopard wild game is very similar, and the megadon version sees wilds upgraded to wild multipliers, and small fish symbols can turn into megadons.

Win Potential

The base game wins are pretty terrible, but the wild symbols might help out a little. You're going to need to see the power of a multiplier, or two, to really help your balance out. Moving into the bonus games, you get the chance to upgrade symbols and see some more wild multipliers. I only managed to trigger one of the three bonuses after a few hundred spins, but the result was 208x. There is a 25,000x max win.

Design

I like the design of Megadon Triple Threat with colourful sharks and sharp animations helping to bring the game to life. Things get a little more frenzied as you move into one of the bonus games, with the soundtrack delivering some extra tension. You can play this creation on any HTML5-compatible device, including mobile phones.

Our Verdict

I often find that Play’n GO creates an intriguing slot that promises so much but ultimately doesn't deliver what I was hoping for. It's a good-looking creation with the potential to hit big wins, but they're just too infrequent. You might have better luck though, and there’s always the temptation to have a few spins with that 25,000x max win lurking out there in these dark waters.
