Full review continued below ↓As the main door opens on the big top, we step inside and witness some of life's slightly disgruntled characters who have been victims of a certain amount of abuse over the years. Sneaky Slots brings the subject back to the front of our minds, but quite what the Freak Show Revelation is going to become remains to be seen. You'll find our wild host, multipliers and free spins adding to the excitement in this odd creation.
In Freak Show Revelation, you have 20 paylines, and you'll pick up wins using letter symbols and picture symbols. The letters max out at 3x, and the pictures can get you 20x. The wild host will substitute for other regular payers and activate one of three random features. It could get a multiplier, an expanded wild or instant cash prizes with multipliers.
Nolimit City has kindly lent these guys the xBomb wild symbol, and this can land on the central 3 reels. When it lands, it will destroy adjacent symbols and increase the multiplier.
Three bonus symbols landing anywhere on the reels will get you heaven or hell spins. Four bonus symbols will ignite the super bonus. If you choose to go to heaven, you have 10 free spins, and if you go to hell, you'll have three respins.
The free spins are fairly self-explanatory, and you get a guaranteed wild with each spin. In hell, you start with three spins and collect multipliers to get those spins renewed. The wild will double the multiplier on its reel, and if you land a bonus symbol, you'll go to the super version. These super hell spins simply start with four respins.
To increase your chances of landing the bonus game, you can pay 2x or 5x, and if you'd like a choice of bonus games with a direct purchase, you can pay 100x outside the UK.
Not only does The Host act as a wild symbol and substitute for all paying symbols, but he'll also offer you three random features. The first is a multiplier, which multiplies wins by up to 50x, and the second is an expanded wild symbol. Finally, there is host cash, which gives you a random win and a multiplier between 2x and 10x.
Landing 3 bonus symbols gives you a choice of 10 free spins or three respins. Going up to your heavenly place and taking the free spins will see a guaranteed wild symbol with each spin. Heading down to hell means that you play three respins with a chance to add more. You'll pick up multipliers, and if an extra bonus symbol lands, you play the super version. The super spins are simply four lives instead of three.
The base game wins are actually pretty decent when you consider that the bomb symbols and multipliers can keep increasing your payouts. My balance was fairly chirpy the whole way through. The Host turns up quite frequently, in my experience, and those random modifiers were certainly well received. Moving into the bonus game, I preferred the free spins version with the guaranteed wild with each spin. There's a chance that some players could walk away with a 13,000x max win.
It's quite a minimalist view of the freak show with a grainy background depicting some kind of Victorian sideshow setting. The game area is based on a similar feel, and the symbol graphics are well thought out and quite detailed. The soundtrack fits perfectly and adds to the slightly disturbing aura surrounding this game, and it's not necessary to aim for a larger screen when playing Freak Show Revelation. The simple setup replicates perfectly on mobile phones.
I'd read good things about Freak Show Revelation before I started this review, and I've got to be honest, I completely agree with all the praise that's been going around. It seems a little basic at first glance, but the wild symbols hold extra powers, and the addition of Nolimit’s xBomb is also quite welcome! The bonus games didn’t appear too frequently, but they did create some big wins when I got there. I can't think of any reason why you wouldn't want to tackle this slot.
