Henry 8th Calves of Steel

Reviewed by Paul Clare Last updated:

This guy is famous for many things, and one of those is being a little choppy when he's had enough of his wife. This game, Henry 8th Calves of Steel, seems to be more focused on the lavish lifestyle rather than his murdering ways, but the outcome is the same – a 10,000x max win. You've got walking wilds, multipliers, respins and free spins to play for.

Henry 8th Calves of Steel Review

Towards the end of his reign, Henry VIII is said to have suffered a lonely demise plagued by illness, bankruptcy and the guilt that must have lain heavy on his mind due to some of his lifestyle choices and political actions. As one of the most famous kings of England, he's been resurrected on the reels today in Henry 8th Calves of Steel and hopes to leave behind a more positive legacy and help you towards a 10,000x max win.

Gameplay & Features

19 paylines and a range of symbols will do the heavy lifting in the base game with payouts worth up to 10x. Wild symbols substitute for regular payers and a group of five of these will also fetch you up to 20x.

The walking wild symbol will expand into a stack on any of the last four reels, and a multiplier may be attached, which is worth up to 100x. The wild will move one space to the left and the multiplier can increase, depending on how many nudges are required for it to cover the entire reel. As it moves, the reels respin, and this continues until the wild disappears.

Bonus Game

Free spins are yours if you land three scatter symbols, and you get an increased chance of those walking wild symbols landing, and a global multiplier.

Four scatter symbols will produce the more advanced game, and now you see a global multiplier remaining active.

The global multiplier increases when the walking wild symbols leave the reels during either of the bonus games, and in both cases, you can pick up extra free spins as you play.

To produce a spin with a guaranteed walking wild symbol during the base game, you can pay 50x, and entry to the standard bonus costs 100x.

Henry 8th Calves of Steel - Walking Wild Respins

Walking Wild Respins

These handy modifiers feature heavily in this game, and as the wild stacks appear, they could have a multiplier worth up to 100x. The stack moves one place to the left and brings a respin and growing multiplier, depending on how many spaces it nudges to cover the reel.

Henry 8th Calves of Steel - Free Spins

Free Spins

You play for free, and you now have a global multiplier that builds up as those wilds move. You can buy your way directly into the bonus for 100x, and you get a better chance of seeing the wild multipliers appear. Four scatter symbols will get you a slightly more advanced version with a persistent multiplier figure.

Win Potential

Landing a big win in this game doesn't just depend on how the features are feeling. Wild symbols are worth up to 20x, and a big group of these could give your balance a welcome nudge from time to time. However, once the wilds start walking, you may well see your fortunes change as you push on towards that 10,000x max win. I took a chance on the guaranteed walking wild for 50x, and my return was 350x!

Design

Henry poses on the right-hand side of the game area, dressed in his glorious attire, and he even gives you a few costume changes as he appears on the reels as the walking wild symbol. This dining hall is full of all of his favourite snacks, and the medieval soundtrack is quite nice to work with – even if your session is quite long, like mine was. It looks fantastic on mobile devices as well, so that's another tick for Kitsune Studios.

Our Verdict

Presumably, Henry 8th Calves of Steel is making a reference to how this character walks across the reels and keeps himself in better shape than perhaps he was in real life. The lardy ruler let himself go a little, but it seems like he's back to make amends, and he's keen to get those leg muscles pumping whilst winning you big payouts at the same time.
