That's it for the base game action, so we move on to the bonus round.
Between three and five scatter symbols might land anywhere on the reels and take you off to play the Hold & Collect feature. As the bonus initiates, you'll see multiplier values above each reel, and depending on the number of scatters that trigger the game, you'll see various minimum multiplier amounts. They range between 2x and 5x.
Each time a special symbol lands, your three spins are reset and the special symbol value is added to the appropriate reel. These may be additive, or the symbol figure might be multiplied by the reel multiplier first.
Between the reels, there is a power charge meter and hamster symbols can charge this to turn the plus sign above the meter into a multiplication sign. It's far more beneficial to see your final batch of reel multipliers multiplied by each other rather than added together.
To head straight to the action, players can pay 150x to get an x2 multiplier above all the reels, and 400x will get an x5 multiplier. A staggering 1,000x buy-in exists for five scatter symbols with a minimum of 5x above the reels.
3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols will trigger a bonus game with very similar effects to look forward to. This is a respins bonus, and each time a special symbol lands, your three lives are refreshed. Symbols drop and will either add a multiplier amount to the meter above the reels or the figure gets multiplied by the reel multiplier before it's added. If you charge the meter by way of collecting hamsters, you can turn your final collection into a multiplication sum rather than a simple addition.
Standard symbols appear to offer decent returns with even the royal symbols able to double your bet. Unfortunately, the picture symbols require a group of four to offer any real benefit to your balance. These regular wins will require the assistance of the wild multipliers during the base game to pick up decent results, but that could be about to change as you move into the bonus area.
Any of the three features is capable of handing out the big bucks, but everyone's eyes will be firmly fixed on the five scatter symbol game. If you're lucky enough to see the hamster turn those multipliers into a blast of multiplier activity at the end, then maybe you could be on your way towards that 25,000x max win.
My favourite part about this game is the design because it's a little bit quirky without trying too hard. I love the premise and the main character is kind of cute in his own weird way. There's a hint of steampunk going on too, with the robotic, futuristic vibe, and it keeps hold of those traditional Victorian-style elements at the same time – I doff my ringmaster top hat to the design team. For players who like to take a spin while out and about, or perhaps just chilling on the sofa, it's good to know that this game is also available on mobile phones.
Just Slots hasn't been around for long, but they've already come up with quite a good collection of slightly odd slots that keep reviewers like me entertained! The mechanics are (and from what I can see, always have been) quite safe, and that does make you yearn for the bonus games whilst hanging around in the base game area.
