Sometimes the simplest things in life are the best, and this could certainly be true when it comes to Steve and his cash depositing antics. I'm not usually a fan of a base game that requires a number of spins to build up the excitement, but in this case, it’s short and sweet, and it seems to get the balance just right.
As you begin spinning, you'll find regular payouts applied when you land groups of three, four, five or six matching symbols. The royal symbols can pay up to 0.8x, but the picture symbols are a little kinder, and Steve the Stickman will get you up to 5x.
Wild symbols help out when they substitute for regular payers, and some may have a multiplier on them. The most exciting part of the base game is that you have a chance to pick up instant cash rewards that Steve will deposit as he makes his way across the reels.
With each spin, he moves one step further and picks up extra gems. There's no way of knowing exactly how much those gems are worth until he gets to the end of the game area and deposits them in the safe.
You won't automatically pick up the cash value in the safe, but you've got a chance as Steve goes back to the beginning of the game area. You need him to land on a collect symbol for those prizes to come your way.
The free spins bonus doesn't exactly see the action move up a notch, and you'll find it's very much a continuation of the base game. Between 3 and 6 scatter symbols grab you between 12 and 36 free spins, with even more free spins available as you play. Outside the UK, you will probably have the opportunity to head directly into the free spins bonus, but I don't have any news on the exact price.
Each time Steve takes a step from one reel to the next, he builds up extra jewels and takes them with him to the safe at the end of the game area. Once they are deposited, the instant prize grows, and you now have a chance to land it. When he returns and begins his adventure once more, he could land on a reel that contains a collect symbol, and then you grab the cash prize.
Playing for free requires a matching group of between three and six special scatter symbols that land on any of the reels. In return, you get an incredible 12 to 36 free spins. The regular action continues, and the only thing that changes is that you aren't paying for any spins. You can also pick up extra free spins when more scatter symbols land.
The idea of depositing instant cash prizes into that safe with every six spins is kind of genius in my opinion. Other games have tried and failed to keep players interested by building up a huge number of spins to see any feature action or big wins. This hits the sweet spot with a brief sequence that could deliver big payouts. At its peak, Steve can grab you a max win worth 7,500x.
Everybody was kung fu fighting, or at least that's what Steve wants you to believe, as this Stickman chops his way through a piece of paper in a comical fashion. The animations are rudimentary, but that's exactly what this game needed. In all senses, it's a simple but brilliant idea. It looks just as quirky on your smaller mobile phone screen too.
Stickman Cash escaped my attention until the last moment and I just wish I'd picked it up sooner! Some of you won't get it and you’ll think that I'm banging on about such a basic slot with very little to offer, but others will see exactly what I mean.
