Dead Headz

The dead are rising, and hopefully, the payouts will be as well in this inaugural outing with Jinx Gaming – they've opted for a touch of horror with this creation known as Dead Headz. The base game seems fairly uneventful, but there are wild multipliers to look forward to. It seems we're all here for the bonus game then! You'll be introduced to the new Shoot & Loot Waves feature that you can probably expect to see a lot more of down the line. The max win is 10,000x.

Dead Headz Review

Everybody claims to want to shake up the industry when they start a new slot development company, but few have a real impact. Jinx Gaming aims to put an end to a long line of promises that can't be backed up with a little proof. If you love shooting zombies and searching for big wins, then you might want to stick around and hear what Jinx has to say.

Gameplay & Features

During the base game, there are 19 ways to get a prize, and a minimum of three matching symbols is required. Royal symbols pay up to 2x, and picture symbols deliver up to 25x. Wild symbols will substitute for all of these, and a group of five of them get you 100x.

Wild multipliers can also have an impact with a boost worth up to 20x, and you only get to see the multiplier figure if a wild forms part of a win. Unfortunately, that's about it for the base game, so we move on to the bonus round.

Bonus Game

This is where the action really starts to heat up, and you can load up your gun and get ready to slay some zombies. Between three and five scatter symbols will get you six free spins, and the multiplier on all reels will either be worth x1, x5, or x10, depending on the number of scatters that take you there.

With each spin/wave, you discover a number of bullets in your gun and these will shoot the zombies as they approach you. The zombies have a value of up to 20x your bet, and this is added to the overall meter. The red zombies can multiply those figures within the meter. At the end of the game, the totals from all reel meters are added together, and that's your prize.

Players can get straight down to this action by paying 150x for a random chance of entering with x1, x5, or x10 multipliers.

Dead Headz - Wild Multipliers

Wild Multipliers

In their most basic form, the wild symbols will simply form an opportunity to substitute for regular paying symbols. However, when they create part of a winning group, a multiplier value is revealed and this will help boost your overall prize value. Multipliers are worth up to 20x.

Dead Headz - Free Spins

Free Spins

Between 3 and 5 scatter symbols will trigger the bonus game, and everybody gets six free spins. The basic version gives you an x1 multiplier in each reel meter, and four scatters boost that to x5. With five scatter symbols, x10 is the multiplier value. Zombies stagger towards you, and each spin reveals a number of bullets. Shoot the monsters to remain in the game and add prizes to your meter.

Win Potential

Thanks to the high volatility, it is technically possible to land a big win at any point, and those wins could create a 10,000x max payout. Having played the game for quite a while, I think it's fair to say that you're very unlikely to see anything crazy taking place during the base game, unless you can get a lot of wild symbols involved and they reveal one of the larger multipliers. It's far more likely that you'll do your best work during the bonus game as you pick off those zombies one by one.

Design

Dead Headz has a nice cartoon effect to remind everybody that these ghouls only exist in our imaginations, and nobody should have any sleepless nights! They're all fun characters, and you'll enjoy blasting them to smithereens as you make it into the bonus game. The game is set in a graveyard with some spooky music to add a little extra fear factor, but on the whole, it's bright, colourful and looks great on mobile phones.

Our Verdict

For a first attempt, Dead Headz is a sterling effort, and Jinx Gaming should be proud of this one. My only slight complaint would be that the base game suffers a little bit from inactivity due to that fun Shoot & Loot feature only coming to life during the bonus. Hopefully, that'll be addressed in the next creation and they'll balance out the good bits a little better.
