I guess you can't get away from the talk of social media and influencers these days, and I'm actually a little surprised that it's taken so long for these slots to start appearing. Banana X certainly isn't the first, but it isn't exactly a saturated market…yet.
With these five reels and four rows in place, you have an opportunity to hit wins in 20 ways. The lowest payouts come from the royal symbols, and these just about return your base bet for a group of five. The monkey symbols can pay up to 20x.
Wild symbols will substitute for regular payers, and you might get some special ApeX Wilds, which come with multipliers worth up to 100x.
Don't worry if you don't hit a win for a few spins though, because this can boost your future payouts. The influencer meter will grow with each losing spin, and as you move through the levels, you could trigger a random number of wild symbols that will make their way to the game area.
The free spins bonus will need three bonus symbols to land during the base game, and in return, you get 15 bonus spins. Landing an extra three bonus symbols during the free spins will get you another five spins. The influencer level now moves quicker than it did before, and it only resets when you first trigger the bonus. Wild symbols are persistent and stick around until they are used or the game ends.
Each time a losing spin takes place, the influencer meter rises. You progress through five levels of influence, and each one offers a chance to drop wild symbols onto the reels. If you hit a winning spin, the meter level stays the same, but you will lose your 'lost streak'. This means that you can still land a decent number of multiplier symbols as you progress through the game.
Three bonus symbols might hit during the base game, and this will result in 15 bonus spins. You can add additional spins while you play the feature. You now have a separate influencer meter, which speeds up and refills quicker than during the base game. Wild symbols are now sticky, and they will stay there until they boost a win or the free spins feature comes to an end.
Banana X doesn't exactly offer too many hints as to where the big wins are going to come from. The base game payouts are quite reserved, and even though the wilds stick around a little longer during the bonus game, I didn't see anything spectacular come my way. I guess that's what you get for a game with fairly low volatility – your balance might thank you while you spin, but you might find it more difficult to progress very far.
I'm not entirely sure what Fantasma Games was going for! Obviously, monkeys go hand in hand with bananas, so that fits with the game's title. However, I’m not sure how this fits with bananas being social media influencers and the electro/techno soundtrack. It's a mishmash of colours and ideas, but you might enjoy it! I feel like most players are going to be more than just a little bit confused by this creation.
I don't mind a game that decides to rely on wild multipliers as its main attraction, but they need to be a little more forthcoming. You won't see the multipliers added very often, and even when they appear, they might be quite small. It's a low volatility treat that will probably appeal more to players who are happy to spend quite some time trying something new without worrying about their balance too much.
