My initial thoughts were that the base game was going to be a little too simplistic and that the bonus game might be very predictable. The first part came true, but the bonus game was quite exciting. This is where Alice Time Rift comes into its own. It doesn’t seem much on the surface, and the graphics don't immediately strike you, but you need to look a little deeper and appreciate what the developer has done here. It's a bit of steampunk edge and a dark twist on the already twisted tale of Alice in Wonderland, and it has ramped things up a notch.
All of the characters are humanised in a strange way, and that rabbit is genuinely terrifying whether he appears on your mobile or a larger screen. The soundtrack is eerie and certainly impactful on the experience.
I had fairly low expectations when I started, and sometimes that's nice because it gives a game an opportunity to come out of nowhere and catch you off guard. To a certain extent, Alice Time Rift did exactly that, but there was still a slight niggling feeling about the base game action. It was almost brilliant, but it needed something else – although I can't take anything away from the bonus game, and the design is good.
