Octoplay is a Malta-based company that describes itself as being “laser-focused on producing ground-breaking content". This developer hasn’t been around for long, yet it’s managed to build up an impressive back catalogue –

CEO Carl Ejlertsson makes no secret of Octoplay’s ambitions:

In the few short years it’s been operational, Octoplay has grown into a whole family of development companies, enabling it to maintain an output that is impressive in terms of both quality and the sheer number of games hitting slot sites.

Octoplay’s history

Octoplay was created by a team of industry veterans in November 2022, headed by former Red Tiger director Carl Ejlertsson. Octoplay set its sights on bringing “a fresh new approach to player engagement”. It launched with three titles, one of which was the excellent Pearly Shores.

Octoplay has grown rapidly. Within just a few months of launching, it was the parent company to two other developers, Super Hippo and Penguin King. This was a key part of Octoplay’s plan to “form studios under Octoplay that specialise in successful formats".

On 29 March 2023, Octoplay received its Gambling Commission (UKGC) licence. Over the following months it was awarded a Swedish licence, a Maltese licence, and an ISO 27001 certificate, demonstrating high compliance and security standards.

In December 2023, Octoplay went live with Paddy Power and Betfair, marking a big leap into the mainstream. This was soon followed by other similarly high-profile launches.

In May 2024, Octoplay scored a big hit with Dystopia: Rebel Road, which was well-received and soon began trending among players.
