What is the WowPot Jackpot?
A (very) brief history
Microgaming, a legacy developer with deep roots, first began cooking up what would eventually evolve into the Wowpot jackpot back in 2009. It was then overhauled and rebranded, officially becoming Wowpot in 2020. It was then that Microgaming released the first true Wowpot game, Wheel of Wishes. Games Global was founded in 2021 and acquired Microgaming’s distribution arm in 2022, which included around 900 slot games, as well as the Wowpot and Mega Moolah jackpot systems.
Ever-expanding library
Games Global is a BIG developer. You can’t have a progressive network jackpot without a network of games, and Games Global continues to add more and more to the Wowpot portfolio. Games Global releases games from other studios, incorporating them into the jackpot network, meaning that Wowpot games are more varied in terms of theme, gameplay and bonus features.
Games Global seems to be working on the basis that more games means more players, which means a faster-growing, healthier jackpot system – and it appears to be working! There are plenty of good jumping-off points for those looking to score some Wowpot wins. We’d recommend Cash 'N Riches Megaways, Sherlock and Moriarty WowPot, or 9 Blazing Diamonds WowPot.
4 tiers, but no small prizes!
Wowpot doesn’t do things by halves. It has 4 jackpot tiers, and even the smallest is substantial!
- The Mini Jackpot starts at €10,000 ($11,700)
- The Minor Jackpot starts at €50,000 ($58,500)
- The Major at €100,000 ($117,000)
- And the top WowPot jackpot starts at €2M ($2.34M). Yes, er, wow indeed!
The process of triggering the Wowpot bonus round can vary from one game to another, but the feature itself involves spinning a bonus wheel to determine which of the 4 jackpots you receive.
World record holder
Rather than paying out smaller amounts more frequently, the Wowpot builds and builds and builds, growing to gigantic, record-breaking sums. In 2023, Wowpot reached a record-breaking €26.5M ($31M) in value, but it didn’t pay out until December that same year, by which time it had reached €42.1M ($49.3M). This tidy sum was taken home by one lucky player a few days before Christmas. In 2024, Wowpot paid out almost €12M ($14M) to one player, then later that year it dropped three times in one week – which just goes to show it really is anyone’s game.
To this day, the December 2023 win holds the record for being the highest-value slot payout of all time. This is exactly what progressive jackpots are all about!
